Thinking of hiring a photo booth? Well, your first question is probably going to be – How much does it cost to hire a photo booth?
A photo booth is a really great addition to any event. It gives your guests something nice to remember the event by.
One of the most important things that you need to figure out when it comes to hiring out a photo booth service is how much it would cost you. Particularly if it has to involve you organising the type of event where other expenses can get a bit out of control!
Photo booth offerings differ wildly, so to start off, you need to look at the breakdown of the services and products that you are getting from each vendor and be sure to compare like to like.
Most booths already include the cost of instant prints. Photo are printed automatically and can be handed out to the guests.
Photo Booth Props
Then there’s the prop box. This can add a real fun element to the booth. Look at the photo booth props being included and check out the assortment and variety that they offer.
And we mean variety! You are looking for anything and everything – from head gear to goggles, to scarves, wigs, hats, fake moustaches, and so on and so forth.
You’ll want a prop box that is filled to the brim with really interesting looking props and something that will gell with the personalities of your friends and family and the rest of the guests attending the event.
How many staff will be required at your photo booth?
How many people will man the booth? That will obviously impact on the cost.
It could just be one person, but quite often it can be two.
In this situation, the first one is the booth attendant who is the one who takes care of taking the photos. You are looking for someone who is experienced and someone who is encouraging towards the guests when they get their photos taken. You want someone who has enough decorum and some nice crowd control skills as well.
The second person that you would like to have on staff is someone who will be the on-site technician. The thing with equipment is that they are notorious for bailing out in the most inopportune of moments so you need someone who will be there for you to fix things.
Try to see if they will give out free digital copies as well to both you and the guests who are getting their photos taken. This is a bit of a shoe-in but still an option that you might want to take a look at.
You may also want a service that will upload the photos taken to a Facebook page so everyone can tag and share how much fun they had at your event.
Video Messaging Photo Booths
There are also some other options for you to check out such as the optional video messaging. Try to ask if they will throw this in as a freebie for good measure or at least at a fairly minimal add-on cost.
It’s nice to hear short messages and words of appreciation and inspiration from friends and family members who matter and who make your life and event worth enjoying.
Photo strip customisation
Try to see if your photo booth vendor offers photo strip customization. This is a really fun way to jazz up the photos and something that can match the theme of the event you are organizing as well as the tastes and preferences of the people who are attending the said event.
Photo Booth Backgrounds
Look for a photo booth offering that has a wide variety of backgrounds that you can choose from.
Some photo booth services even customize their own backgrounds and may even include really quirky add-ons such as hanging frames, figures with holes in the head so that the guests can poke their faces through it etc. You can even offer to work with the photo booth company if you have some specific creative ideas in mind.
Photo Booth Pricing
The average photo booth package in the UK starts off around about £475 or around $650 in the USA
That has the most basic of services which will include the booth itself, the cameras, the touch screen monitors, the printers, an attendant who may also double as an on-site technician, and the digital copy of the album which can be easily replicated to be given out to guests who attended the event.
You have to be aware though with an add on services the costs can spiral a little from there but for as long as you have the basics, you should be good to go.
Remember you get what you pay for!
You have to remember that this is a business and those who are running it have overhead costs and equipment as well as people to pay so if you see something lower than this guideline cost think about the old adage that says “You usually get what you pay for!”.
Should you may want to haggle on price – you could try haggling for the add-on and non-basic products but still consider the sustainability factor that the operator would have to deal with. You have to be fair and not undercut them too much.
Remember, you only get what you pay for so if you haggle too low for the pricing, you might be getting something that is not as high quality as you initially thought it would be.
Great service and great products come along with certain costs. It is all just comes with the territory and the earlier on you are able to keep that in mind, the easier things will be because you are at least able to wrap your head around the pricing.
Again, a photo booth may not exactly be a necessity for any event but it sure gives your event that special touch and adds and attraction that your guests will appreciate. It is amazing, but it’s the simplest things in life that are our most precious, and that silly little photo booth strip of pictures is something that many of them will keep for years and years, and will always remind them of your event.
That’s something that is quite priceless, to be honest.
